I just needed a newer version of mplayer than the one that came with MacOSX. I've now got most of the Sonata Cycle on my iPod, and they are great! It took me exactly Sonata No. 14 "Moonlight" to get to work today. I actually fixed the problem I was having: it’s detailed in this post.
