		<description>Yeah, I've stopped using the AE for DNS and DHCP altogether.  I have Linksys NSLU2 that wasn't being used, that now runs (off a USB stick) my DNS and DCHP services.</description>

		<description>With the latest firmware (7.3.1 -- I'm not sure when this feature arrived, though), you can specify IP leases by MAC, allowing you to ensure that every machine always gets the same IP.  Once that's set up, you can put the IPs and DNS names in the /etc/hosts file on each machine.  

But as far as I can tell, the Airport Extreme won't do local DNS, unfortunately.  That's the only thing I really miss about my DD-WRT (Linksys) router.</description>

		<description>I've basically stuck to using Bonjour/mDNS/Zeroconf.  Then you just use &lt;hostname&gt;.local instead of &lt;hostname&gt;, or you can append .local to your Search domains.</description>
