Nova 919 are liars!
Posted in the evening, filed under Radio and Podcasting , Rants and Raves. The radio was tuned to 91.9FM last night, while I worked away on the computer. By worked, I mean played, but that’s irrelevant. So, I listened to the same songs over and over again, and I’m okay with that. Because, at least one segment was where listeners voted, so they must just be choosing those songs, hey? And, amazingly, the #1 and #2 songs both had 20% of the votes each, and in fact it came down to one vote between the two songs!
So, imagine my surprise when, tonight, as I have a short break from WoW to make Chai, that on comes the stupid Nova bimbo, and there is one vote between songs #1 and #2 again.
Now, this cannot possibly be true. And, what’s worse, is it’s totally meaningless anyway. I mean, both songs get played, right? What’s the point in having all of this fuss over it? If it were a difference between songs #5 and #6, and they were only playing 5 songs, then it would make sense. Or, if the loser were to never be played again.
I don’t get it. Why do Nova feel the need to lie to their audience, just to try to get them to vote for songs in a crappy, meaningless competition?
I know this was posted a while ago,
But dude, grow up.
Its a marketing campaign used by many business used to increase revenue. Ok, so saying there is one vote the difference makes more people feel the need to call in, therefore more income.
So congrats to you that you are smart not to call in, maybe you need a medal for being so uptight and caring about shit thats fun to some people.
So if there going to play both songs, SO.
Have fun, go outside and play!
Peace

Of course it’s a marketing campaign instrumented to raise revenue. That was, after all, my point.
That doesn’t change the fact they are manipulating people by being dishonest, simply in order to make money.
Is making money that important, that it’s worth lying for?

Oh, and by the way, I spend plenty of time outside playing. Often at an elite level. (And I’m not talking WoW, either)

Whats being lied about?
They play the song first thats got higher votes.
What says its dishonest? What says its manipulating people? Is this really a problem?
Does it piss normal people off, no - they either enjoy it or decide not take it seriously?
This is a pretty weak statement when you say its lying. Just think about many other marketing campaigns.

All marketing (*) is lying. That’s the point of marketing, and advertising. Trying to get us to buy things we don’t need.
And elite level means that I represent my state in my chosen sport. Which is, by the way, an active, outdoor sport. Which has a world cup, which my country tends to win.
