More on Shaving

I finally had to buy some more shaving soap on the weekend. People who work with me will attest that I hadn’t shaved for about three weeks, and was looking somewhat like the wild-man. Anyway, I bought some more, at $10.95 for a tub. I thought it only cost $7.95 last time, but I might be wrong. Anyway, that was back in May, 2005. So, about $10 worth of shaving soap lasts for about a year and a half. Add to that the maybe six packets of safety razors I bought in the same time frame - another $70 tops. Compare this to buying Schick razors, at $15 for 5 (expect to buy around 18 packs in this sort of time frame), and shaving cream at $10/can (maybe 9 cans in that time?). Not only does it give a cleaner, cut-free shave, but it saves me about $200/year.

Independent Front Suspension

See it again at Toxic Junction. I seriously think it’s being done by pulling on the straps. Looks good anyway.

Google Start Page

You can now have Google Start Pages for Hosted domains. I’ve found one bug - my calendar on my start page doesn’t reflect the entries that are in it. And I can’t find where to report this bug…the link that should work gives me an error saying that page isn’t within the pages for hosted domains, or something. It will be cool to be able to have calendar, inbox and ToDo items on the one page, though.

Google Calendar

I’m going to start playing around with Google Calendars. My Touch Football admin team have been using Google Docs (was Writely) for collaborative documentation, and I need to reorganise my life. gCalendars look cool, and I might be able to sync with PalmOS. Hopefully both ways, although even just one way might do.

Veridas back on the air?

It seems like Veridas, the wholesale ISP that my ISP goes through, is back providing internet access, at least to some degree. It’s billing system is back up online, but the home page, and the pages of my ISP are not. I’m still at work, so I can’t see if my ADSL is back, but I hope it is.

Talk Like a Pirate Day.

My pirate name is:

Calico James Flint

Often indecisive, you can’t even choose a favorite color. You’re apt to follow wherever the wind blows you, just like Calico Jack Rackham, your namesake. Like the rock flint, you’re hard and sharp. But, also like flint, you’re easily chipped, and sparky. Arr!

PostSecret, Beard Edition

I just don’t shave because it means I can sleep in for an extra 7 minutes.

JavaScript Submit Once

This is a cool idea - disable the Submit button via JavaScript when it’s pressed, so poeple can’t resubmit a comment multiple times. Not that it’s happened to me, but I like it anyway. Shamelessly stolen from Submit only once! Note to self: Implement this, or something like it.

The politics of chess

I laughed out loud when I read The politics of chess, over on Rum and Monkey.

And then in rides the cavalry, to take the glory and claim the victory as their own. It’s typical, if you ask me… the horsey set always likes to think of itself as punching well above its social weight. When they’re not prancing about the board of life, you’ll find the Knights playing polo and drinking champagne.
