NetNewsWire Lite 2.0.1 Bug

I have noticed a small bug in NNW Lite - I’m fairly sure this wasn’t there last time I used it (before New Year), but I can’t recall for certain. Anyway, when hovering over a post title, only half of the title is actually a link. It happens across restarts, and on every site.

PostSecret Charmers

Hey tiger, you are the reason the rest of us have to pay such exhorbiant insurance prices! I sometimes kind of feel this way. If I can do something, it can’t be too hard, can it? I’m a bit the other way. I loose pens every day. Another year, another wasted year. The line I like best is from Diamonds Are Forever, where 007 meets a girl, and she goes to get changed, and comes back with a different colour hair. He comments, and she asks him which he prefers. His response:

I don’t mind. As long as the collars and cuffs match.

I never understood that as a child. I thought about this today when shopping. I saw a photo frame, and thought about people who buy a photo frame, and keep the picture that’s in there, as it’s better than anything they could replace it with.

Evil Elmo?

Boing Boing: More from Evil Elmo This woman is a tool. It clearly (or as clearly as Elmo talks) says:

You can SHOUT with Elmo. Woah-oah-oah-aoh. You make Elmo want to shout! Be like Elmo, and Shake your fur out, and Throw your hands up, and Come on now.

I just spent the last week listening to this over and over, but the whole thing. It clearly says “Shake your fur out”, not “Shoot your foot off”. Sheesh. Some people need to get a life.

Menubar Screwup

While starting several applications, the following happened to my Menubar: Eventually it came back to normal.

Electronics eTexts

I’ve been looking for a halfway decent textbook to use in my High School Electronics classes, and as yet haven’t come up with anything that even comes close. However, I’ve just discovered a couple of sites that might have some pretty good info on them:

I’ll have to examine them a bit - one of them looks like it might be pretty good to use for the whole course outline for the Year 11/12 courses.

Date and Time in the Menubar

Date and time in the menubar | creativebits Nice way to have the date in the menubar as well as the time, under OSX (possibly Tiger only). Saves having to move the mouse up to the top-right and click to see the date. Of course, this will affect anything else that uses the Medium Time setting, like ecto’s Date view.

Blogsome Templates

Say you find a Blogsome site, with a template you really like. You ask the author for the data, but they don’t reply to you. Never fear. You can always get the data from a Template, as this data is world-readable:

You may need to right-click and Save As…, or view source to see them properly. Obviously, for blogs other than mine, replace _schinckel _with the relevant word… I’m working on getting this so the source of the current templates can be viewed in another web page, but there are some issues with this. The iframe/object will only display the rendered value, and CSS files don’t display at all.
